The Windows 10 May 2021 Update Is Out Now

Windows Hello fans rejoice, for your webcam options just got better.

We’ve covered the Windows 10 May update (also known as “21H1”) a lot recently, but we didn’t know when it would release to the public. Fortunately, Microsoft has hit the launch button for the update, and it should begin appearing in your Windows Updates soon.

What’s In the Windows 10 May Update?

Microsoft sounded the trumpets on the Windows Blog, officially declaring the update as ready to release.

The update itself isn’t huge, but it does contain essential patches and fixes for your Windows 10 machine to keep it running smoothly. The update also allows Windows Hello users to use either an external or internal camera alongside some tweaks to make the Windows Defender Application Guard run better.

Microsoft says that you can look for the update by going to the Windows Update settings on your PC and asking it to check for any new additions. However, the software giant does add that it’s staggering the update to keep up with demand, so you may not see the download option appear for a few weeks.

Opening the Windows for the May Update

While the Windows 10 21H1 update isn’t particularly huge, it does have some nice additions for Windows Hello and Windows Defender users. Be sure to keep your eyes on Windows Update and grab it when the opportunity arises.
