A new job advertisement from Microsoft shows some love for the old and the new.

For a long time, Windows 10 was left to fend for itself by Microsoft as the company turned its attention to its other products and services. Now it seems that Microsoft is heading back to develop new apps for its trusty operating system, as well as some exciting hints at its plans for its 10X project.

Some Potential New Apps for Windows 10 and 10X

Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement on any new apps for Windows 10 or 10X, but Windows Latest spotted a job description that hinted at something in the works for both operating systems.

In the job description, Microsoft says that whoever is lucky enough to land the job will perform the following:

Design, develop, and ship new features and app experiences for Windows 10 and Windows 10X

This line alone contains some interesting tidbits of information. First of all, Microsoft wants someone that can help ship new features for Windows 10. We already know that Microsoft is working on a huge Windows 10 revamp, and new apps may just be part of that.

Not only that, but the job advertisement specifically asks for the new applicants to work on Windows 10X. If you’ve never heard of this name before, it’s a special branch of Windows 10 that’s designed to work on all mobile devices, from phones to laptops.

Windows 10X is still in development, but that hasn’t stopped people from putting it on phones and tablets. Even from these early peeks into Windows 10X, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic operating system for those who like Windows 10’s UI.

So, in essence, Microsoft is keen to bolster its ranks with new blood to help make apps for its existing Windows 10 system, as well as exciting features for its new Windows 10X project. As such, whether you’re on desktop or mobile, you’ll likely have some interesting features to look forward to in the future.

In With the Old, and In With the New

While Microsoft hasn’t officially disclosed what it’s planning for Windows 10 or 10X, there are hints that the software giant has big plans in stock. As for what those plans are, we don’t know—that is, until Microsoft finally lifts the lid on its plans for both the Windows 10 revamp and the Windows 10X release.

That’s not to say that we’re totally in the dark about Microsoft’s plans, however. For instance, we’ve recently learned that Windows 10X will have an anti-theft feature to protect any mobile device it finds itself on.
