Microsoft has confirmed the issue on its website, and a fix is on its way.
Microsoft recently pushed out a new update to Windows 10 that introduced the News and Interests feed. If you’ve noticed that this new addition looks a little blurry, it’s not just you; Microsoft has confirmed that it’s a well-known bug and hopes to release a fix soon.
Very recently, Microsoft released the News and Interest feed onto everyone’s taskbars. You may have spotted this feature in the wild; it’s the little information bar that tells you the weather and expands into a news feed when you hover your mouse over it.
However, the update rollout didn’t go as smoothly as Microsoft hoped. Some users are reporting that the text on News and Interests looks a little blurry.
Microsoft has caught wind of this bug and has updated its documentation to reflect the problem. You can see for yourself on the official Windows 10 version 21H1 page:
After installing KB5001391 or later updates, the news and interests button in the Windows taskbar might have blurry text on certain display configurations.
Microsoft doesn’t go into detail as to what the “certain display configurations” are, but it does state that it’s working on a fix and will push out an update in the near future.
While the News and Interests button is a useful way to see the latest headlines at a glance, not everyone is a fan of it. This goes double if you’ve been affected by this blurry bug, and you’re stuck with a nasty-looking widget sitting on your taskbar.
Unfortunately, when Microsoft rolled out the update, it had the News and Interests feed toggle itself on without user intervention. This means a lot of people now have a random, potentially blurry widget on their taskbar and have no idea how to get rid of it.
However, there is a quick and easy way to hide the widget again. If you’re interested, be sure to check out our guide on how to remove the News and Interests widget from the Windows 10 taskbar for step-by-step instructions.
If you’ve noticed the appearance of a blurry widget on your taskbar lately, never fear. Microsoft is working on a fix t0 make it look crisp once more, and you can even turn it off until the update drops.
If you do enjoy the News and Interests widget, it’s worth taking a peek within its options and settings. The widget features many ways to tweak the news stories and publications that make it into your customizable feed.
Microsoft is bringing news to your desktop, so it’s time to learn how to personalize the experience.
